A Week A Video - Hey Today! - Minor

Supergood track from Hey Today! at least has a video...Directed by Samrat Parmar...that's all, that I know about him, so we just need direct speech: The Indian director Samrat Parmar studied at the International Academy of film and television and directed this video in Cebu/Phillipines at a time when it was hit by typhoons with the help of acting students. I like to thank him for the brilliant work. So should we! Press Play button!

Boy 8-Bit - May 2011 Mix

Just yesterday had a conversation with my friend about silence from Boy 8-Bit (of course, not all, but there was a question))...and here - in my face - his mix in the last day of May...with incredible playlist...some new stuff from Roy Apron is in too...Less words - more music - Press Play!)

Direct speech from Boy 8-Bit himself:
Right, So here is my new mix.. In the month of May. Bit of a Frankensteins monster really. Part promo mix for the new material that then extended into a "club" style mix of some of the bigger "electro" tunes I have been playing out to good response (Bashmore, Sexx, Candy Apple, Noob..) Then I decide to add some new bits that were perhaps a bit warm up (Heavy Baby, Dagobah), then some warm down.. Then I wanted to highlight some of the tunes I liked last year that I haven't really heard anyone play out that much (The Ace, Jaana)..Stripped stuff (Jeri Call, Dapayak Solo).... Oh and then I decided I wanted to add a bit of the heavier techno sound I have been into lately (Tommy Four Seven etc ), but alas I'm too frightened to play out that often!! Then I wanted to put in some UK funky / "Bass" music.. All tied together with some other bits and bobs!Anyway, here it is in its 1hr 45min, loosely stitched, err glory..

Direct speech: 6 Mix celebrates the bank holiday weekend by inviting legendary purveyor of house and disco, Dimitri from Paris, onto the decks. The man behind the first ever house music show on French radio, Dimitri was actually born in Istanbul before moving to France as a child. During the 1980s he produced soundtracks for fashion houses such as Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier, and remixed the likes of Bjork, James Brown and New Order, before making his own grooves. He released his first solo album - 'Sacrebleu' - in 1996 and, since then, has gone on to compile albums of Philly funk and disco as well as re-edit artists including the Temptations and Steve Winwood. For his first 6 Mix in three years, Dimitri steps up to the decks to play a party set of 1970s disco nuggets and classic 1980s house tunes, alongside a selection of contemporary favourites from the likes of Tensnake and Hercules And Love Affair. There's also the chance to hear some of the inspirations behind his latest 'Knights of the Playboy Manson' mix album.

High Powered Boys - "Girly / Crash' EP

My heart always starting to beat faster, when I hear word "Marble"...Good start from old-known french guys....third release on this label - Bobmo & Surkin(who else?))...they describe this as "future house'...I think, that's right...my kids will listen these tracks...or they won't have dessert on supper)
Direct speech and some marks from another djs:

« Girly » is a juke-influenced beat led by insane bleepy hi-toms and a start-stop groove that claps and shakes like nothing else before except that lady with the Louise Brooks haircut in the video for Sean Paul’s Get Busy. Synthhorns breaks and digi-whistles make this monster track even more vicious and angular-grooved, yet totally overwhelming. This is mental body music at its best, straightly aimed towards the future but not really making a whole thing about it – this is actually pretty sparse, minimalistic music. This is not even recommended : this is necessary listening.

« Crash » begins with E’d-up, old school UK style bleepy melody and washes, plus some equally hazy-eyed vocal bits, then breaks into a rushing, stiff Funky riddim without all the flowing, easy vibe usually heard within the genre – instead, this is kevlar-plated bass stabs and psychic-ward arpeggios all around, both giving the tune a strong dystopian flavour. Then it goes back to the defunct utopia, but then goes back again to the dark side, setting a mechanically hypersyncopated feeling to the beat. Distinct bipolarity here, most definitely.

Boys Noize 5/5 : "Girly is a bomb"
Annie Mac 5/5 : "Sublime. Love this"
Drop The Lime 5/5 : " Girly is BULLET IN A CLUB GUN!"
Bok Bok 4/5 : "This is totally crazy, i'm definitely on this Girly track"
Teki Latex 5/5 : "A blacker and fatter Errorsmith yet still white and skinny"
Crookers 5/5 : "Both tracks are amazing"
Trevor Jackson 5/5 : "Totally retarded, and dumb as fuck but for some strange reason i like it?!..."

A Week A Video - Groundislava - A Grass Day

Very wicked video from new project for me - Groundislava. Director - Michael Patterson

Style Of Eye - Wet/Dry EP (preview)

New release on Sound Pellegrino - now - it's Style Of Eye's time. Huge EP with two monsters in original versions and three in the remixes. Favorite track of whole release for me - is remix of "Wet", made by Darling Farah.
We have direct speech also: “WET” is a symphony of exotic percussions and digital bird noises not so far away from STYLE OF EYE’s early productions. The track starts with a bouncy baltimore-ish marching rhythm then some sort of synthetic sax comes in and turns it into a California Raisins party in your fridge with dancing ice cream toucans and pineapple congo players. Heart-melting melodies is STYLE OF EYE’s “chamber” (in the Wu-Tang sense of the term) and when executed in his trademark cold pop synths over a thomping beat, there’s really nothing else to do but dance with tears in your eyes, hence the title of the track.“DRY” has the functionalities of a techno tool without sounding anonymous and interchangeable but rather like the musical equivalent of a hammer precisely hitting a nail, and I’m refraining myself from embarking in a long extended metaphor on DIY equipment here. Based on a simple super-effective melody, “DRY”’s build up is infectious, elegant, clean, and when the beat gets back on his feet ninja-style, it’s with a certain sense of classy-cold Swedish flegm.

Housemeister - Music Is Awesome (preview)

Preview of full Housemeister's new album...again he made posting much easier for me, coz we have his own "track by track" opinion...read/listen)
01. INTRO  A beautiful Arpeggiosynthesizer, filled with vocal snippets which welcome you to the world of Housemeister
02. HIRSCHKEULE  1,2,3, hey! That´s the slogan for the dancefloor crazy. A powerful analog bassline, a „punch in your face“ kickdrum and some hey,hey´s... just ready to dance!
03. MUSIC IS AWESOME This track was the first finished track in the beginning of 2010, it also gives the album its name and the idea for an album. The „Music Is Awesome“ voices are programmed with the voice synthesizer of my Elektron Monomachine and it feels like an oldschool electro track with very nice melodies, like I-F, Artist Unknown or maybe Kraftwerk.
04. RAPIDE Rapide is a very forwardstepping, 80ties influenced dancetrack, with a melodic acidbassline, like Gigolo Records in good times, some nice strings and synthesizervocals again. Dont stop dancing!
05. FEED THE ROBOTS Breakdance!
06. REALITY SUCKS A short fill-in track with electronic voice and lyrics from an e-mail conversation about a really shitty day at the university.
07. SOMMER Awesome meloldies together with a tight kickdrum, recorded in a livesession on a 35 celcius degree day last summer in Berlin. I was sweating, nearly naked just with underpants and sunglasses in my studio. This track is the mirror of this day.
08. TWISTER One of my favorite dancetrack on this album. The best tracks need just a short timeperiod to make. I think I finished it after 3 hours in a livesession.
I play this track very often and the crowd is going crazy.
09. nBaxx  FEAT. BOYS NOIZE This track is taken from our „Shizzo“ EP. For this, Alex and me meet some days in my studio, recording a lot of my machines and synthesizers. Then we finished the trax in his studio, without nBaxx. This track we finished in our holidays on Sardinia Island just on the laptop. It´s a straight electro track, with dirty breaks and very good for breakdancing ;)
10. SCHNEE VON GESTERN FEAT. JAN DRIVER I already recorded this sample 'filtersession', but the track wasn't ready and I had no more ideas how to finish it. The mastering date came closer and I just had 2 days left. So I asked my friend Jan Driver, if he can help me out. He loved the track and everything was easy.
11. ADY GIL I love this bassline, old fashioned with new clothes and as I programmed these wonderful melody, I was going crazy and happy, jumped around in my studio, called some friends to show that track on the telefon. Then I just pressed the record button to finalize it. But what the fuck is Ady Gil? Google it on picture search ;)
12. THE LITTLE ROBOTMEN The Sad Little Robotmen... Sorry but he don't have feelings, he is never happy and never sad, but he wants to be. Please show him love. A short fillin' again.
13. SAVERAVE This day I remember good enough, Boys Noize came by my studio, and I showed him some nice features of the Octatrack. He used the pitchknob on a vocalsample to pitch it down. It was unbelievable! The voice now is saying: Save Rave! and sounds like tousands of people say it in a stadion.
14. CLARISSE The last track on this album was also the last finalized track I made for 'Music Is Awesome'. A melody again, combined with a distorted 808. A track to fly with and recorded in one piece! That was awesome =)

Turbo 103 - Azari & III - Hungry For The Power

Turbo's work is never over! Just posted their issue #100...and now - catch up #103. Azari & III are getting their release. With remixes from Jamie Jones (house), Art Department (nudisco), Guy Gerber (my favorite! - gloomy techno), Sei A(more gloomy techno...with american raining city vibes))...and, of course, original & dub version of this track...and direct speech from Turbo:
'Hungry For the Power' gets a fresh batch of big-name remixes in advance of Azari & III's debut LP release, due in July. Headlining the package is a showdown of Crosstown Rebels stars, with the red-hot Jamie Jones and Art Department each turning in massive renditions. Jamie's mix is a full-blown, driving party anthem, while Azari's fellow Torontonians elevate the pop flavours with a more laid-back approach. Guy Gerber, fresh off a fruitful collaboration with P. Diddy, delivers a feverish, saturated late-night mix. Emerging talent Sei A turns in a hauntingly beautiful dubstep mix reminiscent of the mighty Burial. Finally, Azari & III pump the drums up and enhance the Detroit-styled strings on their brand-new Dub.

Para One & Teki Latex - 5th Dimension EP (preview)

Second release from most interesting label of nowadays - Marble...EP from Para One & Teki Latex. "5th Dimension" with vocoder vocal, like in "Dinosaurs With Guns"...and much more interesting for me "Deep Sea Creatures". We have direct speech from Marble also:
« Deep Sea Creatures » starts by showing heavy respect for the classic Drexciya/Other People Place sound of the late 90s and early 00s : a dry, pedestrian beat complete with sinuous yet inflexible bassline and keys. A fine-tuned, self-sufficient aural world, in which Teki emits automatic thinking-based lyrics – images and sub-slogans matching the track’s robotic nature. Then things get twisted up : some warm melancholic light breaks in, half-timing the whole structure and decomposing its techno-pop proficiency. Loose-limbed and emotional, fizzing with micro accidents and tiny bits of harmonies, it has the patina of softcore electronica but the pace of a club hit, before shifting into a romantic breakdown. The main beat then steps back, looping the same cold serenity. A clean, mysterious electro hit.
« 5th Dimension » is a more hectic, tense affair. Based on a grime beat and dramatic keys, it features Teki’s vocoderized voice announcing obscure psychological commandments, coated in claustrated, pressurized sound. As in « Deep Sea Creatures », the middle part is a free zone, conjuring melodic ghosts and taking risky rythmic turns. And you even have an eerie 4/4, obsessive moment, with a vocal cut-up reminiscent of « Work Them ». This is both macho and unsecure, pneumatic and deflated. Parisian grime with a introspective, post-human touch.
